Obiettivi formativi
L'obiettivo principale dell'insegnamento è di fornire le basi teoriche e pratiche per l'utilizzo di linguaggi, metodologie e tecniche per la modellazione concettuale di dati e processi al fine di realizzare efficaci sistemi informativi.
L'insegnamento ha quindi il fine di fornire gli strumenti per modellare e valutare processi, in particolare (business) process che regolano l'organizzazione del lavoro delle aziende per raggiungere i propri fini strategisci.
The main goal of the teaching is to study and put into practice languages, methodologies, and techniques for the conceptual modeling of data and processes, towards the realization of correct, effective information systems.
The teaching targets process modeling, tackling the (business) processes that regulate the way companies organize the work to achieve their strategic goals. In particular, the aim is to provide students with general skills and practices on organizational and functional analysis of companies and engineering and re-engineering of their processes.

Competenza e capacità di comprensioneAl termine dell'insegnamento lo studente dovrà conoscere:
- i concetti fondamentali e le tecniche per affrontare la complessità di aziende reali;
- le metodologie e le tecniche per la modellazione e il trattamento dei dati e dell'informazione presente nelle aziende;
- le metodologie e le tecniche per analizzarne l'organizzazione risalendo alla struttura dei processi esistenti.Capacità di applicare conoscenza e comprensione
Al termine dell'insegnamento lo studente dovrà essere in grado di:
- utilizzare alcuni strumenti di specifica, analisi, ingegnerizzazione, di processi e di dati.Autonomia di giudizio
Alla fine di questo corso lo studente saprà:
- modellare un dominio del discorso individuando le entità rilevanti e le relazioni tra di esse;
- modellare un processo individuando le attività principali e il flusso che le collega;
- scegliere i formalismi e i linguaggi più adatti alla modellazione di dati e processi.Abilità comunicative
Al termine dell'insegnamento lo studente dovrà essere in grado di:
- esporre, in forma orale, una relazione tecnica che spieghi e motivi le scelte progettuali adottate.

- foundamental concepts and techniques for dealing with the complexity of real-world businesses;
- methodologies and techniques for modeling and treating business data;
- methodologies and techniques for analysing an organisation by looking at its existing processes.
APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDINGAt the end of the course, students will be able to:
- use some of the most common tools for specifying, analysing, and engineering business processes and data.
INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENTAt the end of the course, students will know how to:
- model a domain by selecting the relevant entities and the relations between them;
- model a process by selecting the main activities and the data flow connecting them;
- select the best formalism and language for modeling a specific scenario.
COMMUNICATION SKILLSAt the end of the course, students will be able to:
- explain, both in oral presentations and in technical documents, the reasons of every design choise
